I generally don't like to talk too much about my influences because we're an originals band, so I like to keep my chords close to my chest so to speak, but one of our main influences is the Tedeschi-Trucks Band. It's not just their musical style or even the incredible standard of musicianship displayed by everyone in the band, but more about how they freely use their influences to create something both new and familiar. Blues to rock or soul or funk or gospel. They blend it all so well that it makes perfect sense when I hear it and it's really exciting!
Carnival of Fools is typical of that approach. The verses are upbeat, written with gospel-inspired chords with a slight Robert Cray/ Eric Clapton flavour, and those jangly intro and outro chords are a little tip of the hat to the Beatles. - Harv (guitar)
