about

Inspired by the classic rule-of-three used by our favourite 70s funksters The Meters in Africa, and an eclectic mix of southern rock and Stax by way of Otis Redding's Hard To Handle, this tune is all about the endless struggles of trying to keep a girl happy, hah! Raw, catchy, heavy on horn lines, rhythmic punch and attitude - it's a perfect get-up-and-dance song.
There's a call-and-response duel between Al and the band in the bridge section, then a key change into the guitar solo to add harmonic flavour to compliment the rhythmic drive of the song. Not to mention some special Freddie King sauce from Harvey on guitar... - Parmis (keys)

lyrics

I just got to tell you how I’m feeling
Take a little time out on the weekend
Didn’t I do everything a man can do
I went from part-time to your permanent lover
But every Friday night you’re dancing with another
Didn’t I do everything a man can do

I can’t eat
I can’t sleep
You got me working like a dog
Seven Days a week

Our eyes met on Monday
Kissed you on Tuesday
Got married on a Wednesday
All our friends said it felt like Friday
Spent the weeknight burning
Saturday you’re yearning
For the weekend
Left me burning
Crying for a month of Sundays

I just got to tell you how I’m feeling
Take a little time out on the weekend
Didn’t I do everything a man can do
I can’t eat
I can’t sleep
You got me working like a dog
Seven Days a week
