Remember live music? Where the bass and drums rattle your ribcage, the guitar traces the line of your spine, keys caress the spaces between and the voice calls up something deep in your soul?
This is what Blues Arcadia do. And they do it so well, they’ve bottled it for mass consumption.
"Live at The Royal Mail" is a stunning document of Blues Arcadia’s first performance since the world went into lockdown eight months ago. It also marks the first full band show since the Royal Mail Hotel Goodna in Queensland, the only Australian venue to receive an award from the Blues Foundation in Memphis, reopened in October.

Blues Arcadia have won kudos of their own: their 2019 album, "Carnival of Fools", debuted at #1 on the Australian Blues and Roots Airplay Chart and at #5 on the AIR Independent Chart; it earned a five-star review in Brisbane’s Sunday Mail and 4.5 stars in The Weekend Australian Review, also drawing praise from UK and US.
Based in Brisbane, the five-piece powerhouse that is Blues Arcadia fuses the soul of Stax and Motown with Chicago and Memphis blues to forge a bold Australian hybrid that exudes sweat, tears, dirt, swagger, style and sensitivity in equal measure.

Like every other act in the country, Blues Arcadia saw its 2020 work diary wiped clean by coronavirus. Festival slots, tours, pub gigs, even intimate backyard events, no show escaped COVID’s dark wrath. But with the end of a year from hell in sight, Blues Arcadia are set to put the tribulations of 2020 behind them and clear the decks for 2021, when they hit the ground running with fresh dates in the tour diary, rekindled energy and a bunch of smoking hot new songs for the release of their second studio album next April.

about

Recorded live at The Royal Mail Hotel Goodna, Queensland Australia on 3rd October 2020.

lyrics

I’m tired of being clever
I’m tired of being smart
I’m tired of always being the one to know
Where you’ve gone and lost your heart
You’re my friend
This is the end
Go and sort your own shit out

Never said I was a saint
Never said I’d be your fool
Never said you could always cry on my shoulder
When them other boys were so cruel
You’re my friend
This is the end
Go and sort your own shit out

We grew up together
Yeah, we grew up next door
Somehow I grew to be your confidante
But I’d rather go blind than hear no more
You’re my friend
This is the end
Go and sort your own shit out

I want to be your lover
I wanna be your man
I want you to stop and see what’s in front of you
I want you to understand
You’re my friend
This is the end
Go and sort your own shit out

I guess this is the story
I guess it’s how it goes
Everywhere there’s folks in love with each other
But nobody ever knows
You’re my friend
This is the end
I guess I’ll go and sort my own shit out
